What to Remove Before a Shed Cleanout

Separate anything you want to keep before the cleanout. Set aside fuel, paint, pesticides, propane cylinders, batteries, and other restricted materials so the team can confirm what is accepted before arrival.

What to Remove Before a Shed Cleanout

Start with keep, remove, and ask

Keep personal items and usable tools apart from the removal pile. Put chemicals, fuel, batteries, and pressurized containers in a separate area and ask about acceptance.

Show what is inside

Photograph shelves, floor area, large items, and anything unusually heavy. Include the shed entrance and the route through the yard.

Confirm whether the shed is staying

A contents cleanout and full shed removal are different scopes. State whether the request includes only stored items, the shed structure, its base, or all three.

Keep with your estimate request

Photos, measurements, access notes, material, contents, base, and any utility or hazardous-material concern.

For current permit questions, check the authority responsible for the property. For Kent projects, the City of Kent’s permit guidance is the starting point.
